CENTRE FOR HUMAN RIGHTS

The Centre for Human Rights (KEADIK) was established in 2004 by the Department of Political Science of the University of Crete, in order to serve the educational and research needs in the field of human rights and the promotion of parliamentarianism at the level of central and local government.

Director of the Centre for Human Rights (KEADIK) is Professor Dimitrios Kotroyannos. Vice-Director of KEADIK is Professor Nikos Papadakis. Field manager of KEADIK is Dr. Stylianos Ioannis Tzagkarakis, Postdoctoral researcher.

The main objectives of the Centre for Human Rights (KEADIK) are:
• Study and field research on the multidimensional issue of human rights and minority rights, ethnic-cultural groups, etc.
• Research and theoretical analysis for the promotion of parliamentarianism.
• The consolidation of democratic institutions in the countries of North Africa, the Balkans and the Middle East.
• Covering the undergraduate and postgraduate level of teaching and research needs of the Department of Political Science, the Faculty of Social Sciences and other departments of the University of Crete in subjects falling within the scope of its activities.
• Perform basic and applied research policy.
• Conduction and elaboration of studies focused on human rights and the promotion of parliamentarianism in the Greek, European and international level.
• The cooperation of all forms with domestic and foreign research centers and academic institutions, whose scientific objectives coincide and complement each other with those of KEADIK.
• The organization of scientific lectures, conferences, symposium seminars and other scientific events, publications and invitations of Greek and foreign recognized scientists.
• The organization of a specialized library and special archives as well as the creation of a data bank.
• The publication of books, studies, yearbooks and practices on subjects related to the aims of KEADIK.
• To undertake any scientific initiative that will support and facilitate teaching at the Department of Political Science.

Το Ελληνικό Ίδρυμα Πολιτισμού είναι επικεφαλής και συντονιστής του Ελληνικού Εθνικού Δικτύου του Ευρω-Μεσογειακού Ιδρύματος Anna Lindh για τον Διάλογο μεταξύ των Πολιτισμών.
