1 February – 4 April 2017. This was the sixth consecutive year that the International Writers and Translators’ Center of Rhodes implemented the diverse and complex educational programme entitled “BOOK ADVENTURES”. Every year the programme is received with great enthusiasm by the schoolchildren and the teachers of the schools on the island of Rhodes. In 2017 the main theme was: “Oral Tradition, Fairytales – Legends – Fables”. Fairytales are windows to the world and they are popular with children and adults. They are classic because they help children get over their innermost fears, allay themselves, rally their powers in their struggle to grow up, perceive the world in their struggle of life. The aim of the programme is, on the one hand, to introduce the children to the magical and enchanting world of fairytales, to their technique and symbolisms and on the other hand to make children create their own fairytales and stories that convey their thoughts and feelings and have a truth for them. The programme was designed and implemented by the Center’s staff. The whole “Book Adventures” educational programme was completed with the awards ceremony on the occasion of the International Children’s Book Day (2 April). Guest writers: Manos Kontoleon, Lily Lambrelli and Maria Papagianni.
