The Artistic Pedagogic Youth Organization “Schedia stin poli” (the name means “ raft in the city”) is a non governmental, non profit organization established in Thessaloniki, North Greece. It was created on 1999 as an informal group and from 2007 has the legal form of non profit, non governmental organization. Our organization created by teachers, social workers, animators and artists who have a strong interest in the subject “communication and social sensitization through arts”. Our tasks are to promote volunteerism and solidarity, to empower creative youth participation, to sensitize kids and youth on social matters through Arts and to develop a dynamic cooperation network with NGOs and young people in local and international level.
Our actions involve: Training young volunteers, implementing voluntary projects for kids and young people with fewer opportunities, designing educational programs in public schools for students in primary education, organizing training courses and seminars based on interactive, non formal education, creating open events, sensitization actions and art events in the city, participating in festivals, European projects and international youth exchanges.
"Schedia stin poli" cooperate with other NGOs, institutes and authorities, in local and regional level, working with kids and young people who live in social exclusion. Currently around 40 members – volunteers participate actively. Also is a founding member of “Thess-Dictyo”, Thessaloniki ‘s Ngos Network, in which participate more than 30 NGOs of Thessaloniki. We were participating in and actively supporting the “Thessaloniki 2014-European Youth Capital”. In 2017 Schedia stin poli organized and realized the innovative project "Back to the community" - life skills and empowerment workshops for young refugees, funded by humanitarian interantional organization INTERSOS and supported by UNHCR. Schedia stin poli has participated in European Programs (Youth in Action – ERASMUS +/ ΚΑ1, ΚΑ2, ΚΑ3) as leader organization or as partners. We have cooperated with NGOs in many countries (United Kindom, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Hungary, Malta, Poland, Rοmania, Slovenia, Turkey, Zambia, Tayland, Mexico).
